Is there any evidence that in the 18 months since the travellers arrived that they have been involved in any crime or caused any disruption to any of Hilton's static residents ?............
I live nearer than most and have spoken to individuals from the site and they seemed no different to any other people I have had occasion to speak to in the village. Wayne Cooper Dale End Rd

P.S.. On a lighter note does any one know the nearest sledging hills to Hilton ??

Must Say I am amased at how little interest and comment there is about this very important issue!

As usual it will only be an issue for people when something happens actually to them or their family or property :furious:
Or as may be the case they are "SCARED" of something :xxxx:

I understand that there are several objections to this application which will probably go to committee in early February so all objectors have until 29th January to contact SDDC. It is not the travellers (although there will be 15 on site) being objected about it is the growing number of such sites that are being provided in this locality. South Derbyshire has more sites than any other Authority in Derbyshire so why can't other localities accept a fairer share? Or is it NIMBY? In addition the existing planning consent on that site is already being flouted so wil that continue to be the case?

Has Anyone any news on this application yet or how it is progressing?
Today there is a crane delivering large blocks of something over the fence so building work continues then???

I hope it would be that easy for me if I ever put in a retrospective planning application in the future and even then continued work on the site in clear contravention of the planning laws and a notice from South Derbyshire council :furious:
They must be confident of "SUCCESS" is all I can say :VMad:

IT OBVIOUSLY PAYS TO BREAK THE LAW IN THIS COUNTRY :iono:

And this government do nothing to stop it!

Objections can still be made before the hearing date, so I suggest anyone who any concerns at all, follow the link earlier on in this thread and lodge an objection. With particular reference to the planning being virtually retrospective, and the environmental impact of the nature reserve.( the application states power will be provided by generators- consider the noise and practicalities of fueling these generators with diesel)

Now they have a "HORSE" grazing on the side of the road!
So far only one! I remember last time we had a camp there there were several horses and when they left they burned the trees there when they left and the council had to send a team in to clean up!

They just couldnt wait until next Tuesday could they? it now seems they think they have grazing rights :furious:
By the way its been reported in the Derby Telegraph this morning and of course they spoke to a local resident of Sutton Lane and the local councillor who seem happy for the application to be approved :WHAT:

If you want it is still not too late to add a coment on the application if you wish, either in support of it or not, just to get that clear!

The Committee meeting for this application is Tuesday 9th Feb at 6pm (I think). The Foston site has a mix of temporary and permanent stands, has running water and power laid on and is monitored by SDDC and other agencies so why do they want Sutton Lane which has no amenities laid on. At present it is an illegal site (commercial use not residential) so why have they not been moved on? The existing fencing round the site is inobtrusive, is environmentally friendly and is secure so why do they want to hide behind a 2.5m wooden fence which would be a blot on the landscape? Do they have something to hide such as business activity (scrapmetal dealers) which is not allowed under the application. What about schoolchildren walking down Sutton Lane to school where there are no pavements for half the distance from the site and many lorries use Sutton Lane. The site will be occupied 24/7 365 days a year and will have the usual noise from human habitation of radios/tvs as well as from generators etc which will effect the Nature Reserve more consistently than the haulage site presently does. Finally if occupancy ( as well as being in business locally) is 365 days every year will that mean they are no longer classed as travellers and will become bound by the same laws as the rest of us who wouldn't be allowed to build a residential property on that site?

A delegate has been nominated by Hilton residents to speak for the allotted 3 min allowed for objections. this has to be based on planning and environmental issues and emotive comments will not be acknowledged. It is recommended that the best way to show your support for the objections is to show up in person at the meeting to present a united and concerned representation of the populace. Be there 6 pm South Derbyshire District Council Swadlincote Civic way council offices. Look forward to seeing many locals showing support
