Traveller Site - Sutton Lane

Postby local resident » Wed Dec 30, 2009 9:24 pm

It may be of interest to some that a planning application with less than 24 hours time remaining to lodge a response was submitted on 3rd December for land on Sutton Lane to be a Travellor Site

I Would be surprised if they include public holidays in there consultation time, but nothing surprises me these days. :banghead:
If anyone feels that this site is inapropriate for Hilton its got to be worth it so log on and put in your objection NOW!
Hilton already has a site and we have the camp at Foston which has vacancies!
If we want planning consent around this area it takes months so why are the Council in such a desperate rush to get this one through so damn quick? whichever way you look at it the planning laws were openly violated by the works the owners carried out in November without planning permission, as such if this application is granted it proves the point that it does not pay to be Honest these days just do what ever you want and get away with it :VMad:

SO COME ON LOG ONTO THE COUNCILS WEB SITE AND LET THEM KNOW YOUR OPINION!!!!!!

Just a thought but dont forget there is another far larger piece of land the other side of Thorleys haulage yard that could well be applying for similar permission if this goes through?
Should this first permission be granted the council could hardly refuse a further development of this type could they??
I dont have any proof of this or any other information just to be totally clear with you all, but the price this piece of land sold for was a lot of money for about half an acre of derelict brownfield contaminated waste land.

Although the date for objection has passed it is still possible I believe to post a comment on line at the link already given as it may still be noted, I hope that we have the necessary 3 objections required to make the application go to commitee. We are all hearing talk that its a done deal, Burntheath is a planning Black Hole etc but if we dont speak out we cannot moan about the outcome. I for one am sick and tired of trying to do the right thing and pay my dues and having those around me flaunt the law and then the council turn a blind eye or worse reward their actions! If enough noise is made then maybe, just maybe, if not this time but in the future, those who do not wish to pay their contribution to society but expect schooling, roads, health care, justice, and their bins emptying by some divine right, may think twice before settling in Burntheath and the surrounding area as the

Hi

It seems our local councillors do not have any respect for the opinions of the Hilton residents anymore. They have kept this one quite by posting application forms where no-one can find them ie: one I have found up near the nature reserve. I thought these persons were supposed to keep us fully informed.
I have been to the site and there are 12 caravans already on this site!!!. of which some are the scruffiest I have seen. This was not on the planning application

FYI,

This was apparently on the agenda for the December Parish Council meeting. However, nobody turned up to either speak regarding it or put in an objection.

I've merged the 2 threads regarding this by the way.

I received an email this morning from the SDDC planning department logging my objection to the proposal. I rang the number given and was assured that many more than the 3 objections required had ben received and that the matter would go to committee and all those who received email responses should receive notification over the next few weeks advising of the opportunity to speak at the meeting. Make sure you check your email regularly as we don't want to miss the chance. I was also told that the planning office were aware that there were breeches to the allowed planning already ie the number of caravans etc.
and that the matter was in hand, whatever that means. So well done everyone who made the effort.

Anyone who didn't get a response from SDDC try ringing the contact I was given James Johnston 01283 595773 Maybe if he can't get off the phone they might get the message!

Mark Todd is querying the short consultation period and Julie Patten has lodged her objections to the application and will attend the planning meeting in due course. Lisa Brown is I believe on a Development Control Committee so she is interested in peoples views. It is too late to object to SDDC but inundate your local councillors with your objections!

This application is going to Committee when those for or against have a total of three minutes to state their case. It is recommended that a resident be a spokesman(woman) so do we have any good orators willing to speak for opponents of the application. Would it be possible to arrange a meeting (site visit?) prior to to the Committee meeting to discuss the way forward?

Hi,

As one of the local Hilton SDDC councillors (with Julie Patten who is District Cllr and County Cllr) I have been following developments on the Sutton Lane site since September.
I am on the Planning Committee so cannot comment directly about the application. However, I note all the above opinions with interest.
I have already requested that the application go to Committee - but as mentioned above, with 2 or more complaints it automatically does so (most times) anyway.
I would recommend speaking to Julie Patten (who is not on the Planning Committee) about the case. I'll continue to read this thread for updates.

Kind regards, amy
