Samknows is showing Etwall as having TalkTalk LLU. I signed up for a business line and business broadband via Opal (TalkTalk Business) for £23 including a second line via the unbundled service. The only problem is that I ordered on 27th and hadn't heard from them so I called them today and was told that they can't actually supply the kit as its not actually unbundled, or something they couldn't really explain. So I'm not happy at all as it looks like we are all stuck with BT.

Not surprisingly it appears the government is looking to minimise public spending on broadband improvements.

Juat checked out TalkTalk as their £6.99 deal that we got through the door the other day looked quite good value. When I checked out their website instead of getting a deal for just £6.99 + £11.49 line rental, there was also a £15.00 "Chargeable Capacity" cost. Upon further investigation( http://www.talktalkmembers.com/content/view/109/149 ) it appears that the Etwall exchange is "full". Is this consistent with the comments above?

So after another argument with BT I'm off to Sky Broadband Connect instead for £28/month! Anyone using Sky or got any experience before I take the plunge? Or any better suggestions?

Cheers!

I've got my fingers crossed as Opal (TalkTalk) are meant to be coming on Monday to install mine. If it goes wrong it may be because its full after all.

Best of luck with Sky Broadband Connect. I'm not sure what if anything they can add over and above BT, as its BT's kit and engineers.

Don't worry - I'm not doing this for performance, it's for reasons of principle!

Ha, I agree with your basic principle but having all the Sky channels makes me more reluctant to give it to Sky than BT!

on a scale of 1-10 how useless is bt...

I've sent a hugeeeeee e-mail to sky complaining about bt's incompetence and there general inability to improve our service.

Completely pointless i know but it's relieved some stress :P

Well, I managed to get TalkTalk to install an unbundled line at my house and its slightly faster than BT's, and seems to be more reliable. However it still only connects at 1.6Mbps and not the 2.4Mbps they estimated, although there does seem to be some room for improvement as their settings allow for much more room for error than BTs.

I've kept the BT line as well, and have subscribed to the SharedBand bonding solution www.sharedband.com. This combines both lines together into one for the computer's purposes. Its not bad, but it doesn't seem to be a 2+2=4 answer, more like a 2+2=3.3. For my business though it does make a bit of a difference and we can now download and get up to 250Kps rather than 140 before. I am not sure if that's worth it for an extra £30 per month but will have to stick with it for 12 months.
